José María Eguileta Franco


Head of the Archaeology Department of the City Council of Ourense, he is Bachelor Degree in Ancient History and Archaeology by the University of Santiago de Compostela and  got his Doctorate in 1994, receiving  the Extraordinary Prize for his PhD thesis. He worked as Professor for the Universities of Santiago, Vigo and UNED until 2006.

His researches are focused in Late Prehistory, conducting several projects in the area of Ourense concerning megalitics, Galician- Roman and medieval sites. On this subject he has published several books and articles, has been part of conferences, seminars and courses. His latest works are now focused in Urban Archaeology. He is also the coordinator for the Social Sciences Section of Vicente Risco Foundation.
