Professor Dr. Andreas Holschneider

Born in Freiburg/Breisgau in 1931, Andreas Holzschneider studied at the Freiburg Conservatory of Music, where he also graduated. He continued postgraduate studies at the Musicological Institute of the University of Tübingen, where he obtained his PhD in

1960, followed by the habilitation and a professorship for musicology at the university of Hamburg in 1967. In 1970, he changed career and became Head of Archive Production of Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft. He later was promoted to CEO and president of the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft. Since 1963, he has been living in Baden-Baden.
